I love Galentine’s Day! Kyle and I actually don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day or exchange gifts or anything like that, which is why I love spreading all the extra love to my girlfriends during the month of February.
I moved to Ohio just five months ago, and I’ve literally been working on making friends since day one. I downloaded the BumbleBFF app the day we checked into our hotel and immediately started swiping. For those who have any apprehensions about making friends on the internet – don’t. It’s the 21st century. We’re busy people. You don’t always connect with your co-workers, and some days you’re too tired from work to go out and intentionally talk to strangers. I’m so grateful for the app because I’ve been able to connect with some incredible girls, and most of them got to meet at my Galentine’s Day party.
Between sipping sangria, painting wine bottles, and eating all the guac, I had one of the best days I’ve had since moving to Ohio. Having a solid friend group is important for me and my mental health, and seeing all of these girls come together just really made my heart happy. Ohio is starting to feel like home more and more everyday, and it’s nights like these that make me believe I’ll be able to handle the MILSO life easier and easier as Kyle and I continue to plant our roots in each of the different homes that the military makes for us.
I had so much fun decorating for the party and making these delish Galentine’s Day treats.

Everyone’s wine bottles turned out so great! No one came in with ideas, but we all managed to hone in our creativity. I painted a wine bottle with paw prints on it to put on the mantle.
And, of course, I couldn’t resist having Gunther dress up for the party. He was the only boy invited, and since he was such a champ (and a hit at the party), I rewarded him with a little Galentine’s Day treat.
