Stream these 10 Netflix Christmas movies this holiday season!
I love a good Christmas movie, both the classics and the cheesy, unrealistic ones. I wish I could be a Hallmark fanatic, but I haven’t had cable for years. Luckily, I can get all the cheesy Christmas movies I need on Netflix. Netflix has a large selection of Christmas movies that everyone in your family is sure to love, but if you’re into the cheesy ones like me, you have to check out these ten Netflix Christmas movies that will definitely get you into the spirit this season.
THE PRINCESS SWITCH (2018)
The Princess Switch was exactly what I needed this Christmas. It’s got a dash of royalty, a pinch of a fun baking show, an obvious love angle, plus a little Parent Trap action. The movie stars Vanessa Hudgens, and it’s about an ordinary girl from Chicago who gets the opportunity to fly to England to compete in a baking competition. When she runs into a duchess that looks exactly like her, the duchess convinces her to switch places for two days. Naturally, they each end up falling for a significant man in the other’s life.
THE HOLIDAY CALENDAR (2018)
This ended up being one of my favorite Netflix Christmas movies of the year, and it’s actually a Netflix original. The Holiday Calendar is about a struggling photographer who inherits an advent calendar from her late grandmother. The calendar opens up the corresponding door each day at midnight, and the toy inside seems to predict the future. And of course, there’s a swoon-worthy love story that unfolds.
THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES (2018)
This is another Netflix original, and it stars Kurt Russel. The Christmas Chronicles is about a girl who decides to catch Santa Claus on camera. She blackmails older brother, who has lost the spirit of Christmas, to help her, and the task leads them on an unexpected and wild Christmas Eve ride. I absolutely loved this film, and it truly made me wish that Santa was real. An extra bonus was that Lamorne Morris who plays Winston Bishop in New Girl has a role in the film too.
A CHRISTMAS PRINCE (2017)
Being a lover of iZombie, I was extra excited to see a Christmas film starring the leading actress in the series. A Christmas Prince is about a journalist named Amber who goes undercover to get the scoop on the prince who has a reputation of being a playboy. Of course, the prince isn’t what he seems according to the media, and the two ended up falling head over heels.
A CHRISTMAS PRINCE: THE ROYAL WEDDING (2018)
I was so excited when I found out they were making a sequel to A Christmas Prince because we rarely get to see what happens after the cheesy Christmas movie has been tied with a perfect Christmas bow. While it wasn’t as magical as the first, A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding is certainly worth the watch. The movie takes place a year after their engagement in the first film. The happy couple is working to plan their wedding, but Richard is stressed about taking over the thrown and making tough decisions, leaving Amber feeling abandoned and doing a lot of the wedding prep on her own. She’s left second-guessing whether following the royal protocol and losing her identity along the way is really worth it. And there’s a nice a little mystery all tied up into it too.
CHRISTMAS INHERITANCE (2017)
Christmas Inheritance is about a socialite named Ellen who wants to inherit her father’s business, but no one takes her seriously. She has to prove that she’s ready to run her dad’s company by traveling to her dad’s hometown in Snow Falls to deliver a letter to his former partner. She ends up getting snowed in, and her time with the people of Snow Falls teaches her the true value of helping others the meaning of Christmas.
HOLIDAY ENGAGEMENT (2011)
This was actually a made-for-TV movie that originally aired on the Hallmark channel, but I never knew it existed until I watched it on Netflix. Holiday Engagement is about a woman who gets engaged, but then her fiance dumps her right before they’re supposed to see her family for Thanksgiving. Instead of telling her family this embarrassing news and disappointing her parents, she decides to hire someone to play her fiance for the holiday.
THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS (2015)
The Spirit of Christmas is about a workaholic lawyer named Kate who is determined to get a bed and breakfast appraised and sold in just three weeks in order to secure a promotion at her firm. Unfortunately, the inn is haunted by a Christmas spirit who takes the form of a human 12 days before Christmas, and, of course, Kate ends up a strange infatuation situation.
DEAR SANTA (2011)
Dear Santa is a about a wealthy party girl named Crystal who finds a letter that a young girl wrote to Santa asking for a new mother for Christmas. The letter sends Crystal on a journey to change her ways, and she ends up falling for the owner of a local soup kitchen while trying to get to know the girl and her father.
CHRISTMAS CRUSH (2012)
Christmas Crush is about a girl named Georgia who is excited to go to her 10-year-high school reunion as it’s set to be just a week before Christmas. She goes with one goal in mind: to win back the one that got away. This movie is apparently also called Holiday High School Reunion online. I’m not sure why it has two names, but on Netflix, it’s listed as Christmas Crush, so we’ll go with that.
