I’m taking a mini blog break while I’m in the process of moving to Ohio. See how you can follow along on my adventures!
By the time this post is published, Kyle and I will already have my car packed with the rest of our possessions, ready to start our 2 1/2-week journey to Ohio. It’s been a bittersweet two weeks squeezing in as much time as I can with my friends and family and making sure I experience all of my favorite things about Shreveport/Bossier City at least one more time, especially eating at all of my favorite restaurants. I’m so excited to start this journey, but it also means I’ll be saying a temporary goodbye to my little space on the internet. Luckily, with all of the adventures ahead, there will be plenty to write about after Kyle and I finally make it to our new home.
Here’s a rough outline of our itinerary:
August 3: Leave Shreveport and drive 9 hours to Fort Walton Beach, Florida
August 4: Spend time with Kyle’s friends in FWB before driving 6 1/2 hours to Tampa, Florida
August 5: Spend the day with Kyle’s best friend
August 6: Leave Tampa and drive an hour and a half to Orlando, Florida
August 7: HARRY POTTER WORLD!!!
August 8: Leave Orlando and drive 6 hours to Charleston, South Carolina
August 9-12: Introduce Kyle to my dad’s side of the family and spend time in one of my favorite cities
August 13: Fly to Seattle, Washington
August 14: Spend the day exploring Seattle and also meet up with my ship friend, Dann
August 15: Travel to the island Kyle’s sister lives on
August 16-17: Spend time on the island
August 18: Fly back to Charleston
August 19: Drive 10 hours to Dayton, Ohio aka our new home!
Of course that leaves very little time for blogging, but I’ll be up on all of the social media documenting all of our travels. If you’re not already, you can follow me on Instagram where I’ll be posting lots of stuff to Insta Stories, as well as Snapchat. I’ll also be posting to Twitter a lot and sharing the occasional update on my Facebook page. My goal is to get back to blogging by September 1st, and I also plan to start my YouTube channel back up, so be sure to subscribe and turn on your notifications so you’ll know when I start posting videos again. Many road trip vlogs to come, my friends.
Anyway, here’s what I’ve been up to my last two weeks in Louisiana:
KYLE AND I WENT ROCK CLIMBING
Okay so first and foremost, I’m freaking scared of heights. Even though I’ve been skydiving before, the thought of climbing up a wall of rocks just didn’t appeal to me.
Kyle is a frequenter at the local climbing gym in Shreveport, G-Rock. I finally agreed to go with him, and even though I cried once and panicked twice, I still had a really fun time. Kyle said I’m a natural. The reason I cried is because I was doing this route that I was very uncomfortable with, and when I thought I was about to fall, this little girl ran under me, and I started to panic. As soon as her mom grabbed her, I fell, and while I didn’t cry big boohoo tears, my eyes watered and one tear managed to fall. I wasn’t sure if my anxiety would be able to handle anymore, but I pushed on, and I’m glad I did because after we did some bouldering, I harnessed in and climbed the rock wall. After one little panic, I managed to complete two different routes.
All that said, I was sore for three days, and I don’t know when I’ll be going rock climbing again.
I SAID LOTS OF GOODBYES
On my last Saturday in Shreveport, I went out to dinner with Kyle, my mom, my sister and a few of my close friends. We went to Blind Tiger, one of my favorite Cajun restaurants in the area.
After dinner, we met up with a few more friends at Fatty’s, which is one of my favorite places to sing karaoke. Of course, they weren’t doing karaoke that night, but I did have a pomegranate martini before we walked over to Sam’s Town. Kyle and my favorite 90s cover band, the Hollow Decks, were playing.
I SAW MY FAVORITE 90S COVER BAND FOR THE LAST TIME
I’ve mentioned the Hollow Decks many, many times on social media because they’re seriously the best. They play all of my favorite songs from the 90s. Kyle and I got into a thing where we tried to see them play as many times as possible without going to see them in the same venue. Our last show was the only place we doubled up on.
Toward the end of the night, the liquid courage hit, and I decided to ask them for a quick selfie. We’re missing the bass player, but I still love that I snagged this photo. We had a little conversation with them about how this was our last show because we were moving, and then I geeked out a little because they recognized us from some of their previous shows. #groupies
I HAD MY LAST DAY OF WORK
This was the second time that I had to say goodbye to my co-workers because the first time was when I decided to go work on a cruise ship. It was very different this time around because I know the change is permanent.
I was part of the opening team at this hotel, and I started out at front desk before getting promoted less than a year later. I took the job because I was in an unhappy situation, and I had no idea that I would still be working there six years later. I made so many memories with this team and co-workers that left before me. It’s so sad to be closing the door on my first big girl job, but I’m so grateful for the experience I gained. I learned so much about myself and my abilities, and I can’t wait to take that knowledge and apply it to jobs in the future.

I ATE AT MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS
Of course I had to mention more food. Kyle and I officially crossed off all of the restaurants that were on our list of places to eat before we left Shreveport/Bossier. I’m going to miss the food, but I’m crossing my fingers that there are some decent eats up north.
