I make one of these every year, and I feel like, as I get older, the things I want evolve so much. There are some things that are always staples when it comes to materialistic things I like, such as anything Harry Potter- or Taylor Swift-related, but when I look back at the wishlists of birthdays past, sparkly phone cases and seasons of TV shows are being replaced with kitchen items and lazy day necessities. What. Is. Happening? Is my age showing?
I have no idea how I’ll be celebrating my birthday this year other than an annual dinner with my family. The boyfriend will be coming along, and I already decided on the restaurant I wanted to eat at several weeks ago. I’ve been craving it ever since I made the decision. I’ll be slaughtering some oysters at Oyster Bar with a margarita or two to wash it down because it’s my birthday, and I can do whatever I want.
I’m turning 28 this year, and it makes me cringe every time I think about it. I only have two years left to be a twenty-something. It’s pretty bittersweet. I’m hoping that when I get to my thirties, I’ll have that “thirty, flirty and thriving” mindset from 13 Going on 30.
//LOUISIANA HOME SHIRT
I always joke and say that when I’m in Louisiana, I’m “meh” about living here, but when I’m outside of Louisiana, I proudly represent. The thing I’ve learned about living in the south is that Texas and Louisiana are both so proud of the shape of their states. Admittedly, I have a Louisiana-shaped necklace that I wear often.
//A TRIP TO SOMEWHERE I’VE NEVER BEEN
I love to travel, and I wish I could afford to do more of it. Next year, I’d like to travel so much more and check more states and possibly even a few more countries off of my travel list.
//TRIPOD
In 2018, I would really like to start focusing more on my YouTube channel. Endless Bliss will always be my #1 priority, but I’d like to post more regularly on my YouTube channel as well. I used to have a cheap-o tripod that I got from Target that didn’t survive the move after my first contract with Carnival. I’d like to get one that is sturdy enough to hold my camera to film videos but also one that works great with taking photos of me when I can’t get my boyfriend or friends to come out and play photographer.
//SD CARDS
I hate clearing my SD cards and prefer to just buy new ones. You can never have too many!
//KARAOKE MACHINE
Being Filipino, I love singing karaoke. My mom has this bangin’ karaoke machine, and while I don’t want anything that extravagant, I would love to have a karaoke machine that connects to Bluetooth so I could sing any song on YouTube rather than having to go buy disks or download specific tracks. They even have this awesome, cheap hand-held one at Wal-Mart, and I keep saying that if I was a Lyft driver, I would totally get one to keep in my car so my passengers could sing karaoke.
//CONCERT TICKETS
I love live music. I’ve seen over 120 artists in concert, some multiple times, and that’s not counting local bands or anything like that. I just love going to concerts. It’s so intoxicating to see people you admire singing the songs you belt out in your car or in the shower and then being surrounded by people who love it as much as you just makes it even better. I listen to all sorts of music, but a few artists that are on my list that I haven’t seen live yet are Ed Sheeran, Kelsea Ballerini, Justin Timberlake, Glass Animals, ODESZA, Adventure Club, Bruno Mars, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Alina Baraz, Alison Wonderland and so many others.
//“NOT TODAY SATAN” SHIRT
Since the first time I saw a shirt with this saying, I thought it was so great and I’ve been wanting once ever since. I had to talk myself out of buying one when I was in New Orleans because it was a little pricier than my bank account would allow. The desire for the shirt still remains.
//AUTO SPIRALIZER ACCESSORY KIT
Okay, I’m officially an old lady because I geeked out when I first tried my Ninja Spiralizer. (Check out this Spiralized Apple Pie recipe!) The Ninja only comes with two blades, so I’d love to finish the set with this kit so I can have all five of them.
//HAMMOCK
In my head, I want to become a more outdoors-y person, so naturally, I just want a hammock. Have I ever actually had the need for a hammock in the past few years? Probably not, but if I had one, I feel like I could easily make up reasons (and trips) for me to use it.
//HEATED BLANKET
I’m seriously always cold, and it’s even worse during this time of year because I don’t really have a proper winter coat or warm business casual clothes for the office. I’ve always wanted a heated blanket because I feel like it would just solve so many of my problems.
//GAMES
Board games, card games, all the games. I just love games. Game nights are my fave, and I wish I could have more of them. Luckily, my boyfriend is a fan of games too. Some games I’d love to get my hands on are Joking Hazard, Bananagrams, Sushi Go, Mafia, The Voting Game and Catch Phrase.
What things are on your wish list this year?
