I wish I could relive the events that led up to me seeing James Bay at the House of Blues in Houston with some of my best college friends, Mandy, Tyler and Analeigh. One night, I was hanging out with a few friends when I looked at my phone and noticed that I had a million missed calls and about double the amount of text messages all from Mandy. You would have thought something tragic happened, but it was the exact opposite.

Mandy and I discovered that we both loved James Bay when she came up to visit Shreveport for a wedding this past summer. I first fell in love with James Bay when I saw Gil McKinney perform “Let It Go” at Supernatural Con. “Let It Go” is still my favorite song by him, and I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to cry or swoon when I saw him perform it.
Before James Bay came onstage, The Cloves opened for him. This was the first time that I ever heard them, but Tyler was already a fan and knew one of their songs. They had a unique sound, and I’ve listened to a couple songs by them since seeing them live.
When James Bay came on, everyone went a little crazy. He’s so freaking talented and was amazing live.
This was easily one of the best smaller concerts that I’ve been to, and I would love love love love LOVE to see him perform again. I know I’ve recommended “Let It Go” to everyone on this blog so many times, but you should also check out “Best Fake Smile,” “If You Ever Want to be in Love,” “Craving,” “Get Out While You Can,” “Collide” and “Hold Back the River.” Really all of his songs are amazing though.
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
