Let's be honest. Fall is when all the best TV shows come back on, and there's no shortage of amazing shows coming back this season. It drives me crazy to wait a week before watching a new episode, but there are some exceptions to the rule, namely Game of Thrones and Supernatural. I usually wait awhile before I catch up with the times and watch the TV shows that everyone else has been talking about for years. I just started season 6 of Grey's Anatomy. I was very late to that bandwagon. If you're like me, and you like to wait a couple seasons so you can binge watch a show before you torture yourself with the whole waiting a week between every episode thing, then boy, do I have a list of shows for you. SUPERNATURAL I am obsessed with this show, and I will forever be loyal to it. Twelve … [Read more...]
TV Shows I’ll Be Watching This Fall
I'm one of those people that likes to have background noise when I'm doing anything, so lately, instead of reaching for Spotify, I've been turning on Netflix. Between trying to cook more meals at home, packing and purging for my new job and doing a lot of things on the computer at work, I've been watching way too much TV. #norAgrets My TV watching is about to get worse now that it's fall again. All of my favorite TV shows are coming back, plus I've found a few new ones to love. Here's what I'll be tuning into this season: THIS IS US: SEASON 1 As soon as I saw Milo Ventimiglia tweet about this, I knew I had to watch it. The preview alone already had me obsessed with the show, and after watching the pilot episode and learning how all of these stories intertwine, I was instantly … [Read more...]
Embrace Your Geekness | Wordy Wednesday
Today is Embrace Your Geekness Day, and I like to think I embrace my geekness pretty much everyday. I mean, I do have a Harry Potter tattoo. I have a pretty obsessive personality when it comes to things I geek out about. I don't just like it; I love it, and when I find another person who shares my passion for said obsession - instant best friends! I fully embrace my fangirl tendencies, especially when it comes to these: HARRY POTTER Between driving all the way to Dallas just to meet the Weasley twins to spending nearly four hours making my way through the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London to visiting Platform 9 3/4 to having a Harry Potter-themed Christmas tree to permanently tattooing the Deathly Hallows symbol on my back, my love of Harry Potter is definitely no … [Read more...]
Newbie’s Perspective on Season 1 of Game of Thrones
I've jumped on the bandwagon, people. I feel like Game of Thrones has been mentioned to me too many times for me to sit around and ignore it. It all started when my friend and former roommate, Mandy, said she started watching it several months ago. Mandy knows me and my mind on another level, so I should have just trusted that when she said I would like it, I would like it, but no. Over the past few months, Game of Thrones has been brought up in so many conversations. One of my co-workers keeps up with the show, and we have the same taste so he knew I would like it. When I visited Baton Rouge, another one of my former roommates said she started watching it because her husband loves it, and she recommended it to me. I finally broke when one of the people I went to Hangout Fest with … [Read more...]
Thoughts While Watching Season One of Fuller House
Disclaimer: If you haven't binge-watched the first season of Fuller House, 1) what are you even doing? Probably living life and not just sitting on the couch watching TV. Good for you, and 2) this will definitely contain spoilers. Since the moment I heard the news about Fuller House, I was already planning on spending my weekend doing mostly nothing so I could guiltlessly binge watch the first season ASAP. Growing up, I was such a big fan of Full House. I have a pretty big family, and I loved watching how this family that was so different than mine operate on a day-to-day basis. Plus, my family wasn't nearly as close as the Tanner clan is. I feel like I learned so many life lessons from the dad trio and lived vicariously through the kids' mistakes. Full House was a huge part of my … [Read more...]
15 Things Nick Miller Taught Me About Adulting
I love everything about New Girl. It's one of my favorite sitcoms because I feel like Jessica Day and I could legitimately be best friends in real life. We would sing songs together, run away from awkward situations and change people's lives in sneaky ways. Every character in New Girl is hilarious, and Nick Miller is no exception. Nick is such a great character to me because he doesn't care about what other people think of him. He could have been a lawyer, but his passion was bartending, so he decided to follow that dream instead. He's practical, albeit in the strangest of ways, and he's unconditionally a great friend to his roommates. Not only is Nick Miller hilarious and fun, he's also chockful of wisdom. He's definitely taught me a thing or two about being an adult. 1// Even if … [Read more...]
Watching My Favorite Shows Without Cable
I have to be honest about something really quick: My financial struggle has been so real this year. I've written about how my life has been full of ups and downs when it came to my emotional struggles, but I haven't shared much about the things that have been burdening me financially. Something positive that's come out of this is that I've been able to look at my priorities and cut out many unnecessary expenses, including cable. Admittedly, I thought that getting rid of cable and DVR was going to be tough, but it's actually been one of the best decisions I've made. I'm still able to use the internet for the laundry list of shows that I want to keep up with. Even though I'm not able to watch it live with most of the die-hard fans, I can still watch my favorite TV shows online. NBC is … [Read more...]
TV Shows to Binge Watch on Netflix
I didn't realize how much I loved watching TV until I became an adult, and Jon let me have my own profile on his Netflix account. I was able to catch up on shows that I was dying to watch and discover new shows to love. It's amazing how easy it is for me to fall in love with TV shows that are so diverse. I love discovering new shows and sharing the ones I love with others. Here are a few series that are on Netflix that you should be watching. Note: Some of these trailers are fan made and some are just clips, but you get the idea. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt I watched this show in one sitting. It's a Netflix series about a girl named Kimmie who was rescued from an underground cult. Instead of returning to her small town, she decides to take residence in NYC. Hilarity … [Read more...]
9 Things Monica Geller Taught Me About Being a Grown-Up.
I've been trying to figure out who my favorite Friends character is for years. After watching the series from the beginning for the billionth time, I think I've finally chosen: Monica. I love Monica because I feel like she had to overcome so much: -- She was always teased for being fat when she was younger. She got back at the world by eating less, working out, and looking hot. -- She was best friends with the prom queen, but it never made her feel inferior. Even though Rachel was always considered the beautiful one, and she got all the guys, all of the attention, and she was well-liked by her peers, Monica never had a foul bone in her body toward her. She was always happy for Rachel in spite of not having any of those things for herself. -- She wasn't the favorite child. Monica … [Read more...]
Supernatural #HousCon: Day 3.
Be sure to check out day 1 and day 2 of my first Supernatural Con! I knew the last day of Supernatural Con was going to be amazing, because, duh, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles were going to be there. Sunday was the day that sold out the fastest because everyone wanted to see the stars of the show, but if I ever go to another one, I will definitely be going all three days, because, like I said, Friday, aka day 1, was my favorite. Unlike Friday and Saturday, Sunday was filled with a lot of gaps for us because we didn't have any photo ops to look forward to, and the autographs for Jared and Jensen weren't until later in the day, so in between panels, there was a lot of time wasting and eating/drinking. The first Q&A of the day was with Colin Ford, who played the young Sam … [Read more...]
