Sharing what I put in my bridesmaid proposal boxes!
Kyle and I have been engaged for about a month now, and I feel like it’s been nonstop since then. Two days after getting engaged, the movers came and emptied out of our apartment. The day after that, we drove about 12 hours to a hotel in Omaha, Nebraska. We spent a week in a hotel while we looked at rental properties in the area. After finding a place, we spent two days cleaning and painting a few of the walls. After that the movers came and dropped off most of our things (we’re still missing our pineapple chairs, and ya girl is salty about it). Since then, we’ve been unpacking, painting, and doing our best to make our new place feel like home.
As soon as Kyle proposed to me, I knew the first thing I wanted to do was ask my bridal party to be a part of our big day. Kyle and I are looking to have a wedding in September of next year, but that didn’t stop me from making my bridal party officially official.
I’ve been scouring Pinterest and Etsy ever since I got engaged, and I have so many ideas for showering my bridal party with love. I kept the bridemaid proposal boxes simple, and I’m seriously so obsessed with how they turned out.
The first thing I included in my bridesmaid proposal boxes is a picture. I’ve made so many fun memories with each person in my bridal party, so it was kind of hard for me to narrow down which picture I wanted to use in each box. I ended up ordering pictures through an app called FreePrints. It’s kind of amazing. You get 85 free prints every month, no strings attached. You do have to pay shipping, but it’s usually only about $2.99, depending on how many prints you get. For your first order, you actually get free shipping for up to 10 photos. I only ordered six photos, so my entire order was free.
“WILL YOU BE MY…?” CARD
I had a lot of different ideas for actually posing the question of “Will you be my bridesmaid?” There are lots of cute ideas on Pinterest for putting the message on the actual box, but I decided that I wanted to do a card instead.
I ordered cards from TheWhiteInvite on Etsy, and I’m so obsessed with the font and color of the lettering. The cards and the envelopes they came with are such a great quality, and the price is very reasonable for what you’re getting. You can customize the message on the card to fit the role of whoever you are asking. I order two Maids of Honor cards, three bridesmaid cards, and a bridesman card. You can also choose the color of envelope you want. I went with metallic gold, and they were so pretty!
I love planning, and I love planners, so of course I had to include one in each of my bridesmaid proposal boxes. They have a few different ones available for purchase on Etsy, but none of the ones I saw really fit my particular needs, so I decided to create one on my own. I just used Microsoft Word to make my planners, and I made sure to customize each one with their name and role on the front, along with their bridal party duties and other customizations on the inside. I printed them out at FedEx, and then I glued or taped them to some kraft wrapping paper that I already had. I used a hole punch and twine to bind all the pages together. I love how they turned out!
Since my entire bridal party is spread out across the country, I figured having a central reference for all wedding things would make it so much easier for everyone to keep everything in one place. The most important pages in the planner are about the bridal party outfits and the bachelorette party! Woo woo!
The thing I was most excited about were the wine tumblers. I thought it’d be so cute for everyone to have their own and drink their beverage of choice out of them while wedding planning. We can also use them at the bachelorette party if we choose to. Instead of putting each person’s role on the cup, I decided to put everyone’s name on them so they would be able to use them even after all their bridal party duties are over.
I ordered the tumblers from CocoAndCarter on Etsy. They come with a lid and a straw. The shop has a variety of different tumbler colors, font colors, and font types. I chose to do rose gold tumblers with white writing, and I chose font #9. The one I ordered for myself is the white tumbler with rose gold writing to match!
Everyone in my bridal party received their boxes earlier this week, and *spoiler* they all said “yes” to being a part of our wedding. If you’ve been reading my blog over the years, then you probably won’t be surprised by the people I chose to include in my wedding.
BREANNA: MAID OF HONOR
Breanna is my younger sister, and I’m so excited to have her as one of my Maids of Honor. We’ve been on many adventures together, including traveling to London, Paris, and Rome, going to Austin City Limits, meeting some incredible YA authors at the Texas Teen Book Festival, and going to Dallas to meet the Weasley twins. She is currently living in Bossier City, Louisiana.
VANESSA: MAID OF HONOR
Vanessa is my older step-sister. We’ve been sisters since I was eight-years-old, and Vanessa was nine. She lives in Charleston, South Carolina, and she’s the mother of my only nephew!
Tra and I have been friends since high school. We met during our freshman year, and we’ve officially been friends for half our lives, which is kind of insane. Tra lives in Los Angeles, but he always made time to visit with me every time he came back home to Louisiana. I also visited him in Los Angeles with Kyle. Tra and I are both engaged, and it’s so crazy to me that my best friend and I are engaged at the same time.
Anamaria and I have been friends since our freshman year of college. We met through a mutual friend, and then we roomed together during our junior and senior years. Anamaria, Mandy (another one of my bridesmaids), and I call ourselves ATM, and we reunite for every Taylor Swift concert. When Anamaria lived in Chicago, Mandy and I visited her for Taylor’s 1989 tour. We do our best to reunite as much as possible.
Mandy and I have been friends since our freshman year of college. We were introduced through Anamaria, and the three of us were roomies in TB 202. Mandy and I share a love of music, including James Bay, books, planning, and Harry Potter. We always have too much fun during our reunions, and we’ve met up in several different cities since graduating college, including Chicago and Houston. We also took an epic cruise to celebrate our graduation with Anamaria and some other friends.
Rachael and I met through mutual friends at a party. We’ve been friends for five years now and have made so many incredible memories. We took a bestie trip to New Orleans together. We’ve been to lots of concerts together, such as Maddie and Tae and Joe Nichols and Marc Broussard. We’ve been to so many parties together and even hosted a few together when we were roommates, such as a Galentine’s Day party and a 90s party. She is also engaged, so it’s been fun to talk about all the wedding things. Rachael is also the only person in my bridal party who has known Kyle and I as both friends and in a relationship, so it’s extra special for her to be a part of our day.
