The Summer Olympics are in full swing, and there’s so much to be excited about! *starts U-S-A chant* If you know anything about me, you know that I was not blessed with any kind of athletic ability. When I was in elementary school, I did about 3-4 years of gymnastics. I also played on the soccer team for a week before I realized I was rotten and quit for the good of the team. When I worked at summer camp, we got to visit the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid. It was so neat to meet Olympic athletes, see them train and use some of the facilities that they utilize.
Needless to say, I never came anywhere close to being eligible for any kind of Olympic game. However, if these were competitions in the Olympics, I’m almost certain I would have at least qualified.
Y’all, I love me some crawfish. I mentioned my love for crawfish about 20 million times (hyperbole) on this blog, and the love just continues to grow. Crawfish goes between being my favorite and second favorite food in competition with sushi. When crawfish season comes around, I take every opportunity to indulge in the deliciousness. If you’ve never eaten crawfish before, get your bum down to Louisiana during crawfish season (which is all of the months that don’t have an “r” in them), and find out what you’re missing.
Other foods I could possibly compete in eating for the Olympics include oysters, rice and my mom’s lumpia.
Okay, no, I don’t have a good voice. At all. In fact, my singing voice is quite horrble, but man, I can sure act like it’s good. Being Filipino, the love of karaoke is in my blood. Anytime my mom threw a party or we went to one of her friends’ parties, the karaoke machine was brought out, and we all went to town. Even when we were in Florida earlier this month, we sang karaoke almost everyday of the vacation.
Not to brag, but when it comes to binge-watching a TV show, I’m pretty boss at it. I watched 5 1/2 seasons of Game of Thrones, just in time to start watching episode 5 of season 6 live with the rest of the fans. I also recently started watching Parks and Recreation (if you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed an excessive amount of Leslie Knope quotes because she’s my spirit animal). The obsession is so real that I’m nearly done with season 6 already. If I get really into a new show and have access to all future episodes, I watch the show while doing the dishes or folding laundry, while doing mundane tasks at work and before I go to bed (sometimes watching more episodes than intended and only slightly regretting it the next day). I’m not sure how this could be a legitimate Olympic game, but if it were, you better believe I’d walk away with the gold.
Okay, so I haven’t thrown huge My Super Sweet 16 parties, but give me the right budget, and I’m sure I could! I love throwing parties, especially when I have a fun theme to stick to. I’ve shared a few parties I’ve thrown on Endless Bliss, including Friendsgiving and Mardi Gras, and just recently I threw a surprise bridal shower for my roommate, Jessica, and tomorrow, I’m having a party for all of my friends that are deploying in September (more info on that soon because it’s easily the most creative party I’ve planned). If there was an Olympic game, I think I could give some people a run for their money, especially if ballin’ on a budget were a criteria.
LISTENING TO AUDIO BOOKS
Audio books are my shiz. Yes, I of course enjoy reading traditional books more, but when time isn’t on my side, a good audio book is the way to go! If they somehow worked this into the Olympics (not that it would make sense in any way to do so since you’re literally just listening. Unless they threw an AR test in there or something #throwbackto5thgrade), I would definitely show some people up.
LOVING ON PUPPIES
This would be the best Olympic game because honestly, I don’t think there could be any losers.
My Snapchat game has increased thanks to having friends who love the app as much as I do. I’m trying to get more creative, but really it’s just a lot of food and a lot of savagery. If I’m on vaca, you’ll feel like you were on vaca with me. Some say obnoxious, I say Olympic competition-worthy.
What “games” would you place in if they were part of the Olympics?
