Honestly, I love any excuse to share pictures of my friends because they’re such a fun group. Before I met them, I was in such a dark place emotionally. I lost myself in people and behaviors that brought me down and made me feel worthless. I wish I could put into words how grateful I am that this new group of friends came into my life when they did. In the short amount of time that we’ve known each other, I’ve laughed more, gone on many adventures and I’ve just overall felt the bliss that I want to portray on this blog. Surrounding yourself with people who support you and your dreams and who uplift you when you’re not feeling 100% seriously makes all the difference.
All that said, my friend, Zach, is moving this weekend, so we threw him a going away party with a Hawaiian theme (because he literally lives in Hawaiian shirts), and several people also roasted him. Personally, I know I couldn’t sit in a chair while people came and said bad (albeit hilarious) things about me, but Zach took it like a champ.
Todd grilled up some burgers and hotdogs, and Roed made some delicious pork that he marinated for several days. It was seriously so incredible. Naomi brought a salad that was freaking delicious. There were also lots of fruits and snacks. Shirley brought these fajita Tostito chips that went pretty quickly, and Nick rose to the occasion and brought some more on his way to the party.
The Water Slide
The weather was kind of iffy, so when the water slide was blown up, we ended up taking turns sliding down without any water. It was a blast!
As mentioned, several people at the party took turns to come up to the mic to share embarrassing stories about Zach. I think we all learned a lot about him. My contribution was a video doing the exact opposite of roasting him. I put together clips of people saying nice things about him, and we played at the end of the roast.
I mean, what’s a party without karaoke? So much karaoke happened, and I’m not sad about it. I don’t even remember all the songs I sang, but Todd forced me to get the karaoke party started with my go-to song, “Baby Got Back.” I was so excited when Rachael got on the mic with me to sing “Before He Cheats” because it was the first time I had ever seen her do karaoke. There were lots of good songs to sing along to, and everyone was entertaining. I love that I officially have a group of friends who are willing to sing endless amounts of karaoke with me.
Obviously, the best part about the party were the attendees.
It always sucks saying good-bye to friends, but I think this was probably the most fun way to do it. Watch clips from the party starting at 10:40!
What did you do over the weekend?
