Disclaimer: If you haven’t binge-watched the first season of Fuller House, 1) what are you even doing? Probably living life and not just sitting on the couch watching TV. Good for you, and 2) this will definitely contain spoilers.
Since the moment I heard the news about Fuller House, I was already planning on spending my weekend doing mostly nothing so I could guiltlessly binge watch the first season ASAP. Growing up, I was such a big fan of Full House. I have a pretty big family, and I loved watching how this family that was so different than mine operate on a day-to-day basis. Plus, my family wasn’t nearly as close as the Tanner clan is. I feel like I learned so many life lessons from the dad trio and lived vicariously through the kids’ mistakes. Full House was a huge part of my childhood, and it’s still one of my all-time favorite sitcoms.
Watching Fuller House was so nostalgic. I was nervous going into it because I wasn’t sure what to expect, but honestly, I think any fan of Full House will love Fuller House too. It has the same wholesome feel, cheesy jokes and life lessons as Fuller House with modern twists and a little Latin flavor.
My random thoughts while watching the show:
The intro. Oh my goodness, the intro. How adorable! I love how they pulled the clips from previous intros (and old pictures for the newbies). It’s too, too cute. I usually like to let Netflix skip the intros for me, but I adore this one and caught myself rewinding it so I could watch it.
That joke about Michelle being in NYC. I loved it. I was super bummed when I heard that neither of the Olsen twins were going to be part of the show, but at the same time, I wasn’t surprised. I love that she was mentioned in the show a few times, and I especially loved when they mentioned her the first time, and the cast dead panned toward the camera. So funny.
Also, the Trump jokes. They were killing me those in the first episode. I had watched the cast sing the theme song with Jimmy Fallon dressed as Donald Trump, and I thought they’d end it at that, but nope. They mentioned Trump a couple times in the first episode, and I was cracking up.
Max: “I know all the bad words – darn, booger and Donald Trump.” YESSSSS!!!
I did not like Max much at all during the first episode because he was such a little brat. I know my parents would never have let me get a dog if I was throwing a fit like he was. After the first episode though, I came to adore him. He’s easily my favorite kid. Weirdly, his little tantrum about getting a dog was the only time I was annoyed with him throughout the show. He was never that bratty again, which I’m thankful for.
I had no idea that Jodie Sweetin could sing. I wonder if she’s trying to boost her singing career, because she literally sang in every single episode. I always wondered if it was actually her singing in that episode of Full House where they formed that girl band and sang a cover of “The Sign.” Now I know. Also, Stephanie is living my dream life. I mean, no I can’t sing, so we’ll just push that aside, but how fun would it be to DJ all over the world and be best friends with famous people? Um…yes, please.
Speaking of dream life, can we talk about Kimmy Gibbler for a second? I never thought I would be jealous of Kimmy Gibbler. Even though her methods are crazy, just like she is, her event planning business is top notch. I’ve always wanted to be an event planner, and she’s somehow been able to plant her face all over town and still get clients. All of the parties she put on her were amazing! The dream!
I swear Candace Cameron Bure and Lori Laughlin both got better looking. I mean, come on! They were both already beautiful and fabulous, but now, they’re even more so. I don’t even understand.
I know that the show wasn’t going to revolve around the things the guys are doing, but who is Danny married to? I need to know! His mystery wife just shows up at the par-tay, and there’s no explanation. Where’s Vicky? And what about Joey? Has he lived the past two decades as a bachelor? I mean, Joey is a catch!
Macy Gray has no personality. I know she’s not even part of the cast, but in that episode where the “She Wolf Pack” goes out on the town, Macy Gray literally does not even change her facial expression. At all. Stick to singing, honey.
I’m not gonna lie – Mr. Woodchuck always creeped me out a little bit. I know it was one of Uncle Joey’s big things, and I love Uncle Joey, but I hate puppets, and Mr. Woodchuck just always freaked me out. I can understand why Tommy wasn’t feeling it.
I kind of guessed that DJ would end up not picking either guy, but how annoying! I’m definitely #TeamSteve over here, as I’m sure the rest of the world is.
We won’t talk about his hair though. They were high school sweethearts, and he’s obviously so good with her kids. They looked like a little family when they were all in the backyard for the picnic. She should’ve picked Steve! Maybe in season 2.
Moments that gave me all the feels:
// When the cast sang “Forever” together at Danny’s party. Oh my goodness. Seriously. ALL THE FEELS.
// When they did a side-by-side singing of The Flintstones theme song showing the new cast trying to get Tommy to calm down and the old cast trying to get Michelle to calm down. I could barely hold it together.
// When Stephanie put Max on at Coachella. Completely 100% totally unrealistic, but how cool would it be to tell your friends later in life that you played Coachella?
// All the hugs. All the feels.
I’m so sad that I’m already finished with the show, because I want more. I really hope Netflix plans on continuing with Fuller House because it was so cute, and it just left me wanting more!
