To me, being fearless doesn’t mean being without fear. I believe being fearless is taking on the things that scare you most. Being fearless means being unafraid and unapologetic about who you are. It means being brave enough to identify what you fear and facing it head on, even when your instincts tell you to run away.
Fearlessness is something that I believe should be admired, which is why I’m so excited to share my latest series with y’all: Fearless Friday! Every Friday, I’ll be sharing stories of brave people and how they’ve faced their fears.
Today, I’d like to introduce y’all to Kristine from My Little Box of Tricks. Read her fearless story below!
Hey everyone! I’m Kristine and am the blogger behind My Little Box of Tricks. Although I don’t know everything (yet), through my blog I aim to share helpful tips, tricks and strategies I’ve learned during my 21 years of living.
What does being fearless mean to you?
To me, fearlessness doesn’t mean that someone acts out of a lack of fear, but rather someone acts, behaves and speaks in spite of having fear. I associate fearlessness with bravery because it takes serious guts to do/say/believe in something despite having immense feelings of fear towards that subject/person/place/thing/etc.
Share a story where you had to overcome a fear.
Coming into college, I was faced with the decision of whether or not I wanted to enter college with my high school boyfriend. In high school our relationship was comfortable, familiar and predictable – which I thought I would enjoy coming into a completely unfamiliar collegiate environment. However, it would be long distance. I was afraid that if we broke up that I would be unhappy and struggle and inevitably fail at finding someone else to share my life with. After weeks of being miserable and afraid, I realized that I deserved to feel better than I was feeling and change my circumstances. So I did and I couldn’t more glad.
Whose fearlessness do you admire and why?
I know this may stir up some feelings amongst y’all, but I admire Miley Cyrus for her sheer bravery and fearlessness. After years of acting in a particular way and being told what to do/wear/hang out with/etc, she now has taken complete control of her life and does what she truly wants. And man, does she look happy doing it. The best part about her situation looking in from the outside? She doesn’t think she’s being fearless, she’s just living her life how she wants to live it, which is a concept I think everyone can draw inspiration from.
What song makes you feel fearless?
Titanium – David Guetta
